AWARD WINNING ARTIST FROM CO. CLARE, IRELAND

Born in Co. Clare, Patrick Kenneally graduated from Limerick College of Art and Design with a degree(hons) in fine art. He won the RDS Taylor award for printmaking and has had work shown both nationally and internationally. His work is in private and public collections such as AIB and Limerick Corporation.

“Boireann” explores the landscape of the Burren through the eyes and mind of the artist as he
arranges space and colour to define the impact of the landscape in a semi abstract,
impressionist manner.

“An exaggerated interpretation of colour, form and light fill my palette from hazy morning
shimmers to the last light of the day” quotes the Clare born artist. “To have such beauty and
inspiration on your doorstep is truly a privilege”

“Many of the works were created during lockdown and were painted from memory and this  has allowed me more freedom of expression and interpretation of the lay of the land as well as the other elements of the artwork” “The artist provides the filter between the viewer and the view”

“My aesthetic toolbox at the moment contains colour, composition, light and perspective. The frequent use of a horizon line serves to create a sense of distance physically but also serves as a metaphor for time, memory or future”

"FROM the rugged slopes of Mullaghmore to the medieval lanes of Ennis, the stark splendour of Quin Abbey to the crumbling chimneys of Our Lady’s Hospital, artist Patrick Kenneally finds inspiration in all kinds of places"

"His exhibition combines scenes that are unmistakably Clare with others that could be more accurately described as inner landscapes" Fiona McGarry, Journalist, Clare Champion.
